Mike’s Mind (9-19-2008)

September 19, 2008

As I said everyone, anything is possible with this feud between HBK and Jericho. Now,we have a ladder match, and now we have Jericho as champion.

You could have Jericho win somehow, someway, but still be hurt after the match. Then he could go on to Raw either the next night or the next week and defend the title against JBL or Batista. Then HBK could come out and cost Jericho the title which would lead to another match between them at Cyber Sunday.

At Cyber Sunday the fans would choose their match, perhaps Hell In A Cell or a Steel Cage match. Those type of matches would fit in good with this feud.

Another posssiblity would be for HBK to win the title and take out Jericho for about a month, and then have Jericho come back and cost HBK the title.I think this is where it would be time for a setup between the two for a big and final match. Some kind of career match but maybe save it until Wrestlemania.

There are so many possible ways this feud could go.HBK could win at No Mercy and the feud could end or be on hold until Wrestlemania. All we know now is that we have a Ladder Match between the two at No Mercy,so lets sit back folks and see where this feud takes us now.

TNA No Surrender Review

September 15, 2008

An * (asterisk) next to the match means that I predicted correctly.

PREDICTIONS:

MAIN EVENT FOR THE TNA WRESTLING WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Champion Samoa Joe vs. Booker T vs. Kurt Angle vs. Christian Cage

Winner: Kurt Angle

TNA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Beer Money, Inc. vs. The Latin American Xchange

Winners:The Lating American Xchange

X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Champion “Maple Leaf Muscle” Petey Williams vs. Consequences Creed vs. Sheik Abdul Bashir

Winner:Consequences Creed

MIXED MARTIAL ARTS MATCH: “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles vs. Frank Trigg

Winner:Frank Trigg

TAG TEAM MATCH: Abyss & Matt Morgan vs. Team 3D

Winners:Abyss & Matt Morgan *

KNOCKOUT WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP: Champion Taylor Wilde vs. Angelina Love

Winner:Taylor Wilde *

LADDER OF LOVE MATCH: “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal vs. “The Guru” Sonjay Dutt

Winner: “The Guru” Sonjay Dutt *

CHALLENGE MATCH: The Rock N’ Rave Infection (Lance Rock, Jimmy Rave and Christy Hemme) vs. The Prince Justice Brotherhood (Curry Man, Shark Boy & Super Eric)

Winner:The Rock N’ Rave Infection

FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE: ODB vs. Awesome Kong w/ Raisha Saeed

Winner:Awesome Kong *

Final score: 4

REVIEW:

The Rock N’ Rave Infection (Lance Rock, Jimmy Rave and Christy Hemme) vs. The Prince Justice Brotherhood (Curry Man, Shark Boy & Super Eric)

This was a decent match, but it wasn’t anything to get too excited over.I would give it 2 out of 5 stars.

ODB vs. Awesome Kong w/ Raisha Saeed
Falls Count Anywhere Match

It was an okay match, once again,it wasn’t anything too great.I give it 2 out of 5 stars.

Abyss & Matt Morgan vs. Team 3D

There was some good stuff in the match.I like Team 3D,I’ve been fan of theirs since ECW,so any match with them is usually good/great.Morgan and Abyss worked pretty well together.I give the match 3 out of 5 stars.

Petey Williams (c) vs. Consequences Creed vs. Sheik Abdul Bashir
X Division Championship Match

Bashir winning means that he will more than likely feud with Creed, which sets up an Arab versus an American.Wow,how original. The match was cool, that I can say.I give it 3 and a half out of 5 stars.

Taylor Wilde (c) vs. Angelina Love
TNA Knockout Women’s Championship Match

Stupidest match of the night.I don’t like Angelina Love too much in the ring. She’s decent, but this feud is more about the storyline, rather than the wrestling.I give it 2 out of 5 stars.

Jay Lethal vs. Sonjay Dutt
Ladder of Love Match

This was a good match.I like the storyline here, and Black Machismo should eventually be at a higher level in TNA.He shouldn’t be a mid-carder for life,at least I hope not.I give the match 3 and a half out of 5 stars.

Beer Money, Inc. (c) vs. LAX
TNA World Tag Team Championship Match

Standard tag match.Nothing too exciting here.I give it 2 and a half out of 5 stars.

AJ Styles vs. Frank Trigg
Mixed Martial Arts Match

The crowd was chanting “We want Wrestling,” and “Fire Russo.” I am guessing that they weren’t happy with the match being a MMA match…I wasn’t either…Also, where exactly did this feud come from.On Impact Frank Trigg and AJ just made the match, three days before No Surrender, and then it’s like “okay, let’s just fight for no reason.” It was the worst match of the night…Sorry AJ,I like you,but this was bad.

1 and a half out of 5 stars.

Samoa Joe (c) vs. Booker T vs. Kurt Angle vs. Christian Cage
Four Ways To Glory TNA Championship Match

Booker couldn’t make the match due to the Hurricane,so it was just the three other guys.

Even without Booker, this was a good match. It was the best of the night, which didn’t surprise me.Jarrett came out at the end,and smashed a guitar over Angle’s head,to help Samoa Joe pick up the victory, and retain his title.

So,an Angle versus Jarrett match looks like it will be taking place at the next PPV.Also,Sting will face Samoa Joe for the TNA Championship.

I give this match a 4 out of 5

My final score for No Surrender has to be low.Only two matches really stood out for me,and that just isn’t enough when watching a Pay-Per-View.The final score is 2 out of 5 stars.

It looks like WWE is trying to push Candice Michelle again by putting her on Raw,and having her go for the WWE Women’s Title.

I would of put her on Smackdown, and had her work her way up to the new Divas Title.I would have went all out and eventually had a face vs face Diva match between Candice and Michelle McCool.I would have had a two out of three falls match between these two,but not until the Survivior Series.

I would have this match pumped up good, and would really make a hell of a Divas match at Survivor Series between these two.The match would go back and forth, and it would come down to a tie at the end of the match.Or,I would simply give the belt to Candice Michelle.

I honestly don’t know who i would have win though. It would be a toss up.Both Divas have it in them to put a good match on.One of the reasons i would wait and have it at Survivior Series is because i would want to make sure candice is ready, and I would not want to put her in a title match too quickly.

I would see how she did in some matches on Smackdown before I put her in a  long battle with McCool. At least she is getting a title shot on Raw.I believe WWE is figuring that she deserves a shot at the title on Raw because she got hurt a few months back, and feel they want to start her at where she was right before she got injured.
I hope she isn’t back too soon though, but I trust her judgement in wanting to compete.I wish her luck at No Mercy in her quest to be once again, the WWE Womens Champion!

September 12, 2008

The world title picture on Raw is really heating up.WWE gave us all a shocker at Unforgiven by having Punk get taken out,and having Jericho replace him (then he won the World Title). The question is how long will he remain champion? There are so many different roads WWE could go down.

Jericho is set to defend his title against CM Punk this Monday on Raw.Will HBK interfere? If he does, will he cost Jericho the title?

I personally wouldn’t mind seeing the title in the feud,as long as the feud stays hardcore.WWE is doing a great job with this feud, and it would be a shame to go from having both guys wanting to hurt each other,to them forgeting about their long history of extremely personal grudges, and just focusing on the belt.

I see Jericho walking out with the title on Raw,and then going on to No Mercy and defending it against HBK in some kind of hardcore match, which would go over with me and I think a lot of fans. This feud will continue to be great,as long as you keep HBK wanting to hurt Jericho, while at the same time having him want to win the title from Jericho.Winning the title from Jericho would kill Jericho on the inside.

No matter where this feud goes its gonna continue to be good.Anything could ruin this feud at this point, but I think WWE will do the right thing with it.

PPV Reviews:

Matches, and the PPV will be rated on a 5-star level.

Mike Gerety (Mike’s Mind):
The ecw scramble match i give it 3 stars It was a good fast paced match with some good manunevers that i liked and a decent amount of action.I pretty much liked everthing in the match and was glad to see matt hardy win the ecw title.

Next match michelle mchool vs maryse i give it 2 in a half stars due to some really good moves done in this match that impressed me.Great effort by both ladies and a typical divas match for a payperview.Anthing i didnt like? Well it could of went a little longer.

Next match the smackdown scramble match which i thought was the better scramble out of all three and i give it 4 stars. This match was awesome with outstanding maneuvers done by the brian kendrick in this match that really impressed me. It was a great fast paced actionpacked match and i loved how it went at the end. It was just a all out battle between hardy and triple h to see who could keep their last pin.I was glad to see triple h retain.I liked everything about the match.

Next up its cryme tyme vs cody and ted.I give this match 3 stars as it was a good back and fourth match that i liked but didnt like cody and ted winning, even though it will go over.

Next up hbk vs y2j.I loved everything in this match and by far was the match of the night and i give it 5 stars.Lots of bumps done to jericho that i loved, like hbk whipping jericho with his belt and jericho going through a table.I loved some of the chairshots jericho took. They were so real.

Next up the raw scramble. This match i give 4 stars and i liked everything about the match good moves lots of action but i didnt want jericho to win the title but i was shocked to see him even as a replacemant.I just hope the hbk jericho feud isnt over.Hbk and jericho now for the title is what i hope.Perhaps this is good for the feud. What a shocker though!

What a payperview with lots of suprises including big show beating up taker.I give this payperview 4 and a half stars.

Mike From Florida:

ECW Scramble: 3 stars

The ECW Scramble was decent and I’m glad Matt Hardy pulled off the win, and I hope he feuds with someone else besides Henry now like Morrison. They should of have made it a Hardcore Scramble to separate it from the other 2 scrambles

World Tag Team Title match: 3 stars

World Tag Team Title Match: Cody Rhodes & Ted Dibiase (c) vs Cryme Tyme was your typical tag team match nothing all that special but still a decent match overall.

Unsanctioned Match: 4 stars

Unsanctioned Match: Shawn Michaels vs Chris Jericho was the best match of the night, and it would have been better if not for the ending with the ref stopping the match. They should of had HBK by getting the pin or submission following the beat down and then after the match had HBK still beat him some more, and start attacking the refs who were trying to stop him. Also, not enough blood.

WWE Title Scramble: 3 and a half stars

WWE Title Scramble Match: Triple H (c) vs MVP vs Jeff Hardy vs The Brian Kendrick vs Shelton Benjamin was the best scramble of the night by far with the ending being really exciting with not knowing who was going to get the last fall between Hardy and HHH.

Divas Title Match: 1 and a half stars

Divas Title Match: Michelle McCool (c) vs Maryse was the worst match of the night and I didn’t really enjoy it except for the few spots in the match that were decent. I’m just not a fan of Maryse as a wrestler, she should be a manager.

The whole Big Show/Taker/Vicki thing was stupid and I’m dreading the thought of yet another Big Show/Taker feud. the only thing that would make this feud good is if they do gimmick matches like buried alive or last ride match. I just felt this segment went on way too long.

World Title Scramble: 3 stars

World Title Scramble: Batista vs JBL vs Kane vs Rey Mysterio vs Chris Jericho was good as well but still not as good as the smackdown one. The fact Jericho was in it was a good and bad thing. Good because well Jericho is now champ and its been a long time coming, but bad because it makes no seance since he was just beaten unconscious not that long before. They should of had Orton and his goons attack Punk after the match instead of before after punk retains the title to set up Orton vs Punk at No Mercy for the title. The one good thing is now the HBK/Y2J feud is even more entertaining then it was because now it will be for the title as well. I think they should have the two of them fight for the title in one of 3 matches if not all. Ladder/Submisson/Iron Man. There you go Vince your next 3 months worth of main events for the two of them and the title.

Unforgiven final review: 3 and a half stars

Overall: It was a good PPV, not the best but still quite entertaining. The only thing about the scrambles I didn’t like were the rules. a 20 min match where a new guy comes out every 5 min which is dumb and unfair because the last guy out only has to be in the match less then 5 min, and he’ll be fresh while the other 4 aren’t so it should have been all 5 men in the ring at once for the 20 mins.

Matt Johnson (1wrestling. com Star Showcase Journalist,Creator of Matt’s Pro Wrestling Blog):
ECW Title Scramble: I liked bits and pieces of this match.I was glad to see Matt Hardy walk out with the title.I expect Mark Henry to come after Matt on ECW,and hopefully Evan Bourne,or someone new will be in the title picture.

I give this match 2 and a half stars.

Divas Championship: Michelle McCool winning was the right thing.Maryse isn’t over yet,but I have to applaud WWE for trying something new,and putting Maryse in the match.I give this match 2 stars.

Smackdown Title Scramble (WWE Championship): I have to agree with Mike and say that this was the best Scramble of the night.Kendrick did a decent job,and I don’t personally like the guy too much. The gimmick is not right for him,but in the ring,he is okay with me.Triple H and Hardy were the two stars of the match, but I wish that Shelton would have been involved more. He didn’t get a pinfall and they seemed to be hyping him up the past two weeks on Smackdown.

I give this match 4 stars.

World Tag Team Championship: The match was decent, but obviously the biggest part was when Manu came out and attacked Cryme Tyme.WWE hasn’t done too many surprising things lately, but tonight had three pretty big events that I don’t believe anyone expected, and this was the first of the night.Cody and Ted should have the titles, because they have good heat on them. An Orton,Rhodes,Dibiase and Manu stable seems to be brewing.I give this match 3 stars.

Unsanctioned Match: This match made sense. You had HBK attacking Chris Jericho at the end, giving the Sweet Chin Music to a ref,and basically just going crazy…and I loved it! Later on in the night,Chris Jericho wins the World Title, which I know was a perfect finish, because HBK left the building earlier,so he couldn’t have stopped him. It’s weird, because Michaels beat the crap out of Jericho, and then Jericho gets a title shot later on,all bloody and torn up from his battle with HBK. To see him walk out there like that was priceless.

I think this feud only got hotter after the Unsanctioned Match, and now with Jericho as Champ,I can’t wait to see what’s next for these two.I gave the match 4 stars.

Raw Title Scramble (World Heavyweight Title): Jericho winning was brilliant.Punk being attacked by Orton and his new crew earlier in the night was great.Kofi coming to his rescue was interesting, and it sets up maybe a new stable of babyfaces led by Punk. The Scramble match had some good spots, and obviously nobody could have predicted that Jericho would walk out as Champion.

How about when Big Show and Undertaker went at it? Wow.WWE did some great things tonight with the PPV.I give the Scramble match a 4.

Unforgiven final review: The surprises were what made this Pay-Per-View.Yeah,the matches were good, but the surprises added in so much. If they wouldn’t have been in the booking plans, the PPV would have lacked.I don’t believe anybody could have called any of what happened,it was all just too random, but great.I am really happy about Unforgiven’s outcome,I really felt good about this PPV,even before it aired.

For an overall score,I give Unforgiven 2008 4 and a half stars. It was honestly one of the best PPVs I’ve seen in quite a while, and it was far better than Summerslam.

Mike’s Mind #6

September 5, 2008

The Smackdown Scramble match should be good, but I don’t see the title changing hands.

I see Triple H retaining, but I think it is possible he could be pinned by Shelton during the match, convincing Shelton that he can beat triple h,and challenges him on the next Smackdown to a match at No Mercy.

I don’t see Jeff leaving with the belt either.I think WWE will have other future plans for him.I don’t see The Brian Kendrick winning,he is no where near ready to be champion, and he really shouldn’t even be in the main event.I like his gimmick to a point, but he needs to stay a midcarder.

MVP is a great Wrestler, and I can see him even being main event material, but he’s not ready for the title.Perhaps one day he will be champion.Time will tell.

It should be a decent match overall, and i say it’s between Triple H and Shelton, but my gut feeling says The Game will end up leaving Unforgiven with the belt still around his waist

Mike Gerety talks about the World Tag Team Title match at Unforgiven:

My thoughts on the Raw tag team title match at Unforgiven kind of goes both ways.

I would love to see Cryme Tyme win the belts.I think they would be great champions along with being very popular.I think having them as champions would go over very well with the fans.

However I’m not sure WWE wants to give them the belts yet.You have Cody and Ted who are over as heel champions and if they lose it would make them look a little bad if you ask me.

The right way for WWE to keep Cody and Ted from going down if they lose the belts is to make sure they keep them healthy on Raw and have them in good “star quality” matches and eventually form a stable with Randy Orton.

In the meantime, you can have Cryme Tyme as the tag team champs but give Cody and Ted titleshots every now and then.

This tag team title match at Unforgiven should be interesting to see which way the tag team titles go.I say more then likely Cody and Ted will retain, but Cryme Tyme still stands an outstanding chance.

August 29, 2008

I am happy to hear that the Bella Twins have signed with WWE.I have heard that they can wrestle pretty good and they are very sexy women from what i have seen from pictures.

When you have beautiful women that can wrestle that is a star plus, because not only do you have the eye candy to look at but you have their skills in the ring to enjoy as well.

I love when two beautiful women wrestle each other cause then you have double the eye candy and double the wrestling skills.

This week on smackdown one of the bella twins bri makes her debut but some reports say that their is a switch during the match and one goes under the ring and the other goes out.

This is just what i heard, but from my understanding they have both signed.
Looking forward to see the Bella Twins down the road and wish them luck in their future in WWE!

Mike’s Mind #3

August 28, 2008

Mike Gerety is back and he talks about the Shawn Michaels-Chris Jericho feud:

In my opinion this is the hottest feud since the austin mcmahon feud back in 98.

It all started earlier in the year.It seemed as if they really respected each other, although they may have not saw eye to eye on everything, they still respected each other. They had some tremendous matches earlier in the year and I think the last match before they had that jericho injured his eye is what set Jericho off.

That is the night that HBK defeated Jericho in an outstanding match. They shook hands afterwards and everything but I think ever since that night it killed Jericho inside that he lost to The Showstopper.

So when the two on Raw confronted each other on the Highlight Reel he just snapped eventually and injured the eye of HBK and taking him out and really having an impact on the Showstoppers career. Then they had a match and he hurt Michaels even worse, injuring his eye more and splitting him open and just left him a bloody mess.

Then at Summerslam I didn’t know what HBK was gonna say and I was actually suprised when he said he was going to hang up the tights and listen to the doctors. But then once Jericho confronted HBK and his wife I knew something big was going to happen for the storyline and it did as Jericho eventually goes to take a shot at michaels and accidentally hits Rebecca, the wife of HBK.

This past week I loved it when they both aggreed on this unsanctioned match. In this match, anything is possible. It’s hard to say where this feud is going. You gotta think HBK probably won’t take Jericho out for a good amount of time as Jericho is hot in the WWE right now but then again I don’t see Jericho getting his way with HBK again as it should be HBK’S turn to get his way against Jericho.

But like i said its hard to say.I would have HBK take out Jericho for a few weeks then have a rematch at No Mercy having perhaps a no contest with both men getting hurt, but not enough to take them out.

At Survivior Series I would defintley have them in a hardcore match,or perhaps a parking lot brawl like Cena and JBL had.I would have HBK finally take out Jericho for about three months, after several more weeks prior to Survivior Series of Jericho attacking Michaels and maybe even attacking his wife Rebecca.

I think hbks wife will have a lot to do with this feud in the upcoming future…Maybe even a turn against her own husband?!?!?

I expect a longterm feud with these two.How long you ask? Well,we have to all wait and see,as anything is possible with this feud…and i mean anything.

An interview with “The Pretty Hate Machine” Jason Gotti

August 23, 2008

Here’s an interview I did with a friend of mine who is a talented Independent Wrestler, “The Pretty Hate Machine” Jason Gotti out of Philadelphia.

1.How did you get started in the Wrestling business?

I first started training actually when I was 16 and trained with Jeff Rocker in the summer of 2002. I trained there during the summer when I was off from school. Then when I started training again and finished my training pretty much is when I went to Les’s Place. I finished my training under Diego Demarco, White Lotus and Cannonball. I started training there in April of 2003 and stopped in August, 2004. I left wrestling in the summer of 2004 and came back in the summer of 2007 and have been wrestling almost every weekend since.

2.When did you realize that you wanted to be a Pro Wrestler?

I realized I wanted to be a wrestler ever since I was a little kid. My grandmom used to live a few blocks from the ECW arena and I would go to alot of the shows there. I also used to go to the WWF and WCW all the time with my dad. I would say the match that made me want to be a wrestler and sticks out in my mind is the 4 way dance for the ECW tv title. 2 Cold Scorpio vs Pitbull #2 vs Shane Douglas vs Chris Jericho. I remember watching that on wgtw 48 which always had ECW in Philadelphia. That was the match that made me want to be a wrestler I was probally 11 at that time.

3.Who is the toughest competitor you’ve faced so far in your career?

I have had some good competiton, I enjoyed my matches with Vinny Nero and Rockin Rebel. I would not say there has not been any opponent who is tougher than the other.

4.What is the hardest move that you’ve pulled off in the ring?

There really has not been any move that was too hard to hit. I won’t do a move unless I know that it can be done correctly and safe. There are alot of guys who drop there opponents on there necks. I hate seeing that, and it shows that you don’t know how to work. It’s all about protecting your opponent and yourself. Accidents happen in wrestling but you try to minimize them the best you can.

5. If you were in WWE or TNA right now,who would you want to be feuding with,& why?

I would like to work HBK. Shawn Michaels is one of the greatest workers of all time. It would be awesome to work him. I would also like to work John Cena. Alot of people talk about how John Cena can’t work and stuff. He may not be the most technically sound wrestler but if I were to work with him that means I would be a top guy. Only top guys work with Cena and it would be a great chance to make some good money in the buisness. Another thing about people saying Cena can’t work is bs. When he comes out to perform he gets a huge reaction from the crowd. Whether it’s negative or postive. People react and care. Whats the difference between Dean Malenko and John Cena? Dean Malenko is a great wrestler but John Cena is a good worker, who is well known and makes more money then Malenko. See my point?

6.What injuries have you sustained since becoming a Pro Wrestler?

I have been pretty lucky with injuries since I started wrestler. I broke my wrist once in training but other than that I have been pretty lucky with injuries.

7.What is the #1 thing that you dislike about the business?

The number one thing I dislike about the wrestling buisness is the poltics. I can not stand the poltics in professional wrestling. It makes me hate wrestling alot of times. There are alot of guys in wrestling who are bitter and like to start trouble. I can’t stand it. I have seen guys go to promoters and put down other wrestlers because of jealousy towards the performer. Alot of wrestlers who can not get it done in the ring will try to down someone they feel threatned by. Wrestling is a very cuthroat sport. There are only so many spots and the nature of it is cuthroat. So if a guy feels threatned that there spot is going to go away because someone new is coming in. They will do what they can do to hold that person down. It’s nothing new, it has happened millions of times and probally always will happen. I never felt the need to down someone for no reason like alot of people do. I don’t get threatned when another wrestler is good. Im happy that there good because I want to work them and have a great match. People fail to realize it takes two to make a match good and one to make it bad. So if your not doing whatever you can to make that match good, then it’s going to suck. Alot of guys won’t sell for smaller guys or younger guys. I can’t stand that either. Im a legit 295lbs, if I can sell for a smaller guy and make him look good then thy can too. Because it makes the match better, then im going to do it. Im all about making the match good, im very for whats good for buisness. But there are so many guys in this buisness who are just out for themselves. They fail to realize is that if you get to work with better people and have better matches then the house becomes bigger and we can get better payoff’s. Peoples ego’s kill indy wrestling and it fucking sucks. I have been a victim to poltics many times. But I learned if you try to look for answers as to why someone is talking bad about you or why someone does not like you it can make you crazy. I take alot of what goes on in wrestling with a grain of salt. The buisness can make you crazy if you let it. I continue to work hard and stay focused on my goals because one day my hard work will pay off. I will get the break that I feel I deserve. Poltics can only get you so far, it takes the talent to succeed in this buisness as in any sport. Im confident with my ability.

8.What do you offer that would draw people out to see you Wrestle?

I have offer a realistic style of wrestling. I also have the ability to talk people into the seats. One thing I feel that I do better then alot of guys is cutting promos. Any top guy in the buisness are good at promos. I feel this is something I have that alot of guys don’t.

9.What’s something that most people don’t know about you, like a special talent or a hobby of yours?

I write poetry and am very into music.

10. In closing, what drives you to keep going out there every match, where ever you may wrestle & to give it your all each & every time?

What drives me is my drive to be the best. I want to be the best wrestler in the world. I want to make a living off of wrestling one day. My ultimate goal is to go to the WWE. But when I get there I want to be a top guy. I don’t care if there are 10 people in the audience or 10,000 I give it my all each and everytime. My dedication to wrestling and my work ethic towards it will one day let me acomplish my goals.
